Scopul initial al acestui blog-proiect a fost si este acela de a face accesibile spre studiu marile opere ale Antichitatii in original sau in limbi de circulatie internationala, dar mai ales pe cele care au aparut in traducere in limba romana de-a lungul timpului. Acest lucru nu este insa foarte usor de realizat. Aceste publicatii (articole, carti, albume etc.) trebuie identificate, iar bibliografiile dedicate studiilor clasice in Romania sunt inca destul de greu de reperat / accesat. In cadrul acestei sectiuni vom incerca sa realizam o baza de date bibliografice exhaustiva in care vor fi inventariate toate publicatiile, articolele, traducerile aparute in Romania ce acopera perioada clasica in domeniile: literatura, filosofie, arheologie, religie, istorie, lingvistica etc. Titlurile luate in considerare nu vor fi dedicate doar spatiului greco-roman, ci si celui "barbar" (nord-european si germanic) sau oriental (inclus extremul orient). De asemenea, vor fi luate in calcul si culturile traditionale din cele doua Americi, Africa, Australia si Oceania. Pentru a oferi totusi o granita temporala clara, membrii acestui proiect au ajuns la concluzia ca secolul V (cu mici variatii) ar fi cel mai potrivit ca si punct terminus (dar suntem deschisi unor noi propuneri argumentate).

Echipa Analecta Classica face un apel catre toti cei au posibilitatea de a accesa materiale in romaneste - ce se pot incadra in structura propusa mai sus - si de a le trasforma in format digital (scanate, fotografiate) spre a le oferi si altora spre consultare si studiu prin intermediul acestui blog.

Cind, in liceu, ne punem mai serios problema alcatuirii si a devenirii limbii noastre, studierea latinei parca ar avea darul de a ne purta inapoi pina la capatul vremurilor omenesti si al lumii. Si totusi, lucrurile nu stau deloc asa. Fara indoiala, invatarea latinei, a limbii-mama a romanei, mai ales sub frumoasa ei forma literara, clasica, este, pentru orice invatacel, un cistig cultural si estetic greu de intrecut, dar, de fapt, invatatura aceasta nu este decit o Poarta – calea atit catre lumea inalta a Antichitatii, cit si catre cea mai de seama parte a Evului Mediu. Pentru toti romanicii, fie ei francezi, italieni, spanioli sau romani, dar, la fel de bine, si pentru germanici sau slavi, accesul ulterior spre elina clasica, spre sanscrita, spre gotica sau catre slava veche, in esenta inspre cunoasterea, directa sau prin reconstructie arheologica si lingvistica, a mai mult de sase mii de ani, urmeaza, indeobste, tot deschiderii acestei Porti a Latinitatii. Vine insa, pentru orice tinar licean, intrebarea simpla: „Dar de ce sa ma ostenesc eu tocind mereu atitea declinari si conjugari latinesti? Ce am eu de cistigat de aici?“. Fireste, depinde de telurile vietii fiecaruia dintre noi.
De invatat pe dinafara banuiesc ca nu-i prea place nimanui, mai ales la 15 sau 17 ani. Dar s-ar cuveni ca, inca de acasa, fiecare dintre noi sa fi aflat si sa fi inteles ca nici la o meserie avantajoasa, nici la o pozitie respectata nu se poate ajunge fara acel nivel de cunoastere, de comportare si de cultura firesc omului modern, intr-o Europa comuna si cultivata. Iar, tot dupa cum poarta, calea catre stiintele „exacte“ ne-o deschid ramurile matematicii, la fel si leacul nestiintei in – oh, cit de multele! – lucruri privitoare la domeniul stiintelor „umane“ nu-l ofera numai studiul propriei limbi si literaturi, ci si acela al temeliei intregii culturi europene, ducind la o buna cunoastere a latinei, daca nu si a elinei. De altfel, cercetarea romanei prin romana, la care s-a cam ajuns in ultimele decenii, chiar si printre unii din oamenii de carte, este, in mod vadit, un cerc vicios. Romana noastra nu este nici „mama tuturor limbilor“, cum mai sustine, citeodata, cite un ultrapatriot, nici nu s-a nascut, ca zeita Athena, de-a dreptul din teasta marelui Zeus. Ea este rezultatul trudnic al convietuirii a generatii si generatii de locuitori ai tinuturilor noastre carpato-danubiene cu alte felurite neamuri, minate incoace de propria lor soarta. De intelegerea corecta a destinului si a prefacerilor limbii noastre depinde insa si asezarea noastra sufleteasca printre semeni. Iar aici ne pindesc, mai cu seama, doua primejdii.
Prima dintre ele este tocmai supraaprecierea de sine. Este, desigur, adevarat ca cetatea Carpatilor, cu riurile sale imprejmuitoare, de hotar, este, prin sine, prima fortareata din calea inspre Europa, inaintea celei a Cvadrilaterului Boemiei, sau, mai la departare, a celei a Luxemburgului sau a Milanului. Dar puterea acestei „bune tari“ sta, de fapt, in taria oamenilor ei – nu doar in taria bratului, ci, mai cu seama, in cea a gindului, a curajului si a priceperii lor. Altfel, taria musculara ramine doar temeiul barbariei. Si-atunci, avem cuvint sa ne socotim fericiti a fi „urmasi ai Romei“, uriasa colonizare intreprinsa pe meleagurile noastre de Traian aducind cu sine puterea si prestanta latinei, care, imprumutind, si cu folos, din limba dacilor, a coborit-o totusi pe aceasta din urma la statutul de substrat. Cei care, nefiind romanizati, in muntii lor mai sudici, duc mai departe stratul de limba a daco-moesienei sint albanezii. Cu alte cuvinte, cind ni se face dor de stramosii de dinaintea romanizarii Daciei, avem nu departe de noi chipul a ceea ce-am fi fost fara aceasta. Iar in istoria noastra momentele cele mai de seama, mai inalte si mai temeinice, cu bun nume in lume si printre oameni, au fost si sint acelea ale reintoarcerii la matca latinitatii. Nu putem fi si nu putem da valori fara o solida apreciere si stapinire a intelegerii valorii.
A doua primejdie este tocmai cea contrara, a subaprecierii de sine. Romanii venind definitiv catre valorile culturii europene, prin scoala extinsa la numar de masa, abia in decursul veacului al XIX-lea, carturarii nostri au trait (si poate ca unii mai traiesc inca) sub imperiul sentimentului ca neamul nostru a fost si a ramas mereu un „primitor universal“ de valori neproduse de el, fie ele lucruri sau cuvinte mai de folos decit gindirea si puterea bastinasilor de pe la noi. Va fi fost, in buna masura, si asa. Dar nici un popor, cit de uitat prin tinuturile sale va fi fost el, nu a ramas mereu, in tot decursul evolutiei sale, doar un primitor de valori. Cursul istoric al fiecarui neam este asemanator cu evolutia unui „pulsar“, a unei stele care bate, crescind si scazind – el cunoaste epoci de extindere, urmate de perioade de restringere, si asa mai departe. Si inaintea noastra, grecii, persii, latinii au luat de la altii si le-au dat altora cuvinte si valori materiale. Intelegerea corecta a acestei neincetate alternante duce la cunoasterea adecvata a istoriei nationale, zonale, mondiale. Complexele de inferioritate, ca si cele de superioritate sint dovada unei mentalitati (si, implicit, a unei culturi) care nu si-a atins (inca) virsta adulta. Iar aici rolul hotaritor trebuie sa-l joace, pe linga o educatie mai temeinica din familie (binecunoscutii „sapte – 7! – ani de-acasa“), Institutia Scolii. Rog sa-mi fie ingaduit ca, si aici, sa folosesc literele majuscule, care sa vadeasca asa cum se cuvine respectul datorat acestei Institutii. Putem vedea bine ce insemna cindva Scoala romaneasca, intilnindu-i, pe oriunde, pe acei virstnici care aveau, poate, numai bacalaureatul.
Tinuta, gesturile, purtarile, exprimarea lor arata graitor excelentul, frumosul nivel de performanta, putem spune fara teama, nu numai culturala, ci si civica al traditiei scolare de la noi, pe care vecinii nostri sudici nadajduiau, prin 1938, sa-l poata atinge si ei in vreo douazeci de ani. Saltul facut de noi, dar indarat, in 1948, ne pune astazi in postura de a ne regasi purtarea si puterea. Intr-adevar, o componenta esentiala a acestei Renasteri, la fel cu aceea de odinioara a Europei intregi, este intelegerea faptului ca fara revenirea la matca noastra latina – altfel spus, daca lasam cu buna stiinta ca latina, ajunsa un fel de dexteritate, „sa fuga din catalog“ – nu se poate vorbi cu temei de o reintegrare culturala si civica in mentalitatea cu adevarat europeana. Latina nu poate fi nici mazilita in coltul umanioarelor (neavind ea o ambasada care s-o salveze), nici pusa la o neloiala concurenta cu limbile moderne de mare circulatie. Eliminata, practic, din mass-media (TV, radio, presa – peste tot asemenea), umilita in liceu, privita ca un lux nepractic in Universitati, ea este barometrul vizibil si necrutator al starii de sanatate a culturii noastre. Cum sa ne mai miram, asadar, de navala aberatiilor de sens si a exprimarilor ignare pe care le auzim, pe strada, la TV, de la tribuna Parlamentului, in fiecare zi? Acum este momentul ca toate „uzinele de oameni“ sa-si vina in fire si sa-si arate concret, iar nu doar sa-si clameze, dragostea de tara si de limba; acum este vremea ca dascalii nostri sa se intoarca, ei insisi, la Scoala Latinitatii, cu constiinta raspunderii lor adinci fata de generatiile viitoare.
